Carpet One of Billings began as “The Carpet Connection” in 1982. It was founded by Bob Erbacher and Duey Gililland in the same location where it is today! Randy Mostad joined the company in 1994 and later purchased Carpet One Floor & Home of Billings in 2001 with John Erbacher, son of Bob Erbacher. In 2004, Ron Scoles joined as a sales manager and became a partner of the business in 2009. Tanner Mostad started as an installation helper in 2011, where he later transitioned to working in the warehouse, selling cash and carry retail, bidding and project managing commercial projects, and finally as the assistant manager of Carpet One.

Carpet One of Billings continued to grow and later expanded to two locations in Billings in addition to adding two cabinet center locations as well as Carpet One Commercial.

After expanding to several locations, Carpet One of Billings continued to show success by focusing on customers and quality service. One award that Carpet One of Billings is particularly excited about earning is the World Floor Covering Association Gold Standard Award for excellence in retail. This award is based on knowledge, customer service, quality of store image, and code of conduct.

With Randy and John both focusing so heavily on the overall customer experience from beginning to end, they were proud to receive such a prestigious award. “Our company is honored to receive the Gold Standard award from the WFCA. The foundation of our family-owned business is based on the very principles this award represents. We work hard to continuously improve and we're proud that our team is being recognized by the WFCA.”

In order to stay ahead of the industry and its changes in technology and trends, as well as provide the best customer experience, management trains staff regularly, attending all training opportunities in the area. Randy and John participate in semi-annual trainings and trade shows with CCA Global and visit supplier and manufacture facilities regularly.

On a local level, Carpet One is very involved in the community, supporting many faith and child based programs. One of the initiatives that both Randy and John support is the recycling of carpet cushion. Randy and John started recycling scrap cushion in 2007, and in the twelve years following, they recycled over 1,000,000 pounds of scrap, rebond, and prime pad. While it is not an inexpensive venture, Randy and John feel the importance of recycling and minimizing the company’s impact on the environment is paramount. Want to learn more?
